Are there growth opportunities? — While some IT jobs may sound interesting, and the company may be a place you would like to work, are there actual growth opportunities for you there?

When you are interviewed, ask how fast the company is growing, how many new employees they expect to add this year and if there will be both training opportunities and promotions available to you.

IT jobs can be very exciting if you work for a fast-paced company that is growing quickly. IT jobs are not so exciting if the company has grown as much as they expect to, and so your growth opportunities are limited.

How long has the IT company been in business? — Finally, find out about the company’s history, and about the number of months or years they have been in existence.

Just remember, even though an IT job may sound interesting, if it is with a new start up that has not proved that it is going to be around for a while, you could be looking for another new job just a few months from now.
