These are the questions that reach our inbox again and again, answered as briefly as we can manage. If yours is not here, the contact page explains how to ask.
About the guides
Do you test the steps you describe?
Yes, on ordinary devices rather than the newest models only. A second team member then follows the draft without help. Menus still move with system updates, so if something looks different on your screen, check the date at the top of the guide and tell us.
Some articles are years old. Are they still useful?
Often, yes. A piece about choosing project software or protecting a network may mention older versions but still describe the right questions to ask. We leave older articles in place with their original dates so you can judge them for yourself. Specific models, prices and offers in older posts should be treated as history.
Why do you cover so many different subjects?
Because the people we write for juggle many different subjects. Someone running a small business may need help with a laptop in the morning, a website in the afternoon and the family television in the evening. Tour the Toolkit shows how it all fits together.
About recommendations
Which laptop, phone or service should I buy?
We rarely name a single winner, because the right choice depends on the work you do and your budget. Instead we explain what matters, such as memory, battery condition or data allowances, so you can compare models yourself. Our guide to sizing memory is a typical example.
Are some articles written with businesses?
Yes. The archive includes contributed articles about services such as web design, hosting, streaming and property, some of which link to the companies involved. Compare any service with alternatives and read its terms before paying.
Is internet TV legal?
Internet television itself is simply a way of delivering channels. What matters is whether the service holds the rights to what it shows in your country. Choose licensed services and check with the provider if you are unsure.
About the site
Do you track visitors?
No. The pages carry no analytics, advertising or tracking code at all. The only thing stored in your browser is your answer to the storage notice. Cookies and Storage has the details.
Can you fix my computer or phone?
We are writers rather than a repair service, so we cannot connect to your device or contact a provider on your behalf. A local repair shop or the maker's support team is the right place for hands-on help.
I found a mistake. What now?
Send the page title and what you noticed to mail@techstylecomputers.com. Corrections are the messages we act on first.
Can I reuse your guides?
Linking is always welcome, as is quoting a short passage with a link back. Republishing whole articles needs our permission; see The Fine Print.

More quick answers
A second round of questions that arrive in our inbox.
How do I know if a guide is current?
Every article shows when it was published. For phone and computer settings, anything from the last year or two is likely to match closely; older pieces are better read for the reasoning than for exact menu names.
Can I suggest a topic?
Please do. Tell us the device, what you were trying to do and where you got stuck. Topics that several readers raise move to the top of our list.
Do you cover Mac as well as Windows?
Yes, wherever the task exists on both. Some guides focus on one system because the feature only exists there, and we say so near the top.
Do I have to sign up for anything?
No. The site has no sign-ups of any kind. New guides simply appear in the archive and on the homepage.
