About TechStyle Computers
TechStyle Computers is a working toolkit for people who run a small business, a busy household or both at once. Our readers are rarely technicians. They are shop owners choosing a hosting plan, parents setting up a family television, freelancers comparing laptops and office managers who have somehow become "the computer person" because nobody else volunteered. We write for them.
What sits in the toolbox
The archive has grown over many years and covers a broad spread of everyday technology:
- Computers and software — hardware basics, office programs, project tools and support arrangements, gathered in the Computer drawer.
- Phones and apps — buying, fixing and getting more out of smartphones, under Smartphones and Mobile App.
- Web, marketing and search — hosting, web design, email security and the basics of being found online, with plenty in Tips & Advice and Marketing.
- Television at home — internet TV across several countries, set-up advice and what changes when a household leaves traditional broadcasting behind.
- Home, property and money tech — from garden lighting and painting services to property markets and the tools behind modern finance, mostly in Household and Business News.
How we approach a subject
Every guide starts from a real job someone needs to get done: free up a slow laptop, share a phone connection, decide whether an upgrade is worth the money. We explain the terms that matter, show where the settings live and say plainly when a task belongs with a repair shop, an accountant or another professional. We prefer steps you can follow at your own desk over long lists of products.
Technology moves quickly, so older articles are dated clearly. Some of our earliest pieces describe gadgets and software versions that have since changed, and we leave them in the archive with their original dates because the underlying advice often still holds. Newer guides, such as our walk-through on checking computer specs, reflect current menus and settings.
Who writes it
TechStyle Computers is put together by a small team writing under pen names. None of us claims a certificate, a title or a laboratory; what we offer is patience, curiosity and a habit of testing instructions before we publish them. You can read more about how the team works on Inside the Tech Bench.
Contributed articles
Alongside our own guides, the archive includes articles written with or for outside contributors and businesses. These cover services such as web design, hosting, streaming and property, and some link to the companies involved. We edit them to the same standard of clarity as everything else, and we expect readers to compare options before buying anything.
Where to begin
New here? The Tour the Toolkit page suggests a route through the main drawers, and Fast Answers covers the questions readers send most often. If something is out of date or unclear, the contact page explains how to reach us.

What you get
Four promises in every drawer
Whatever the subject, a TechStyle guide should leave you with these.
Steps you can follow
Numbered actions with the real menu names, so you can work through them with the device in your hand.
Warnings up front
Anything that could cost data, money or safety is flagged before you reach it, not after.
Dates in plain sight
Each article shows when it was written, so you can judge whether menus are likely to have moved.
Written for mixed teams
Guides assume a mix of Windows, Mac, Android and iPhone, because that is what most offices and homes have.
